Joseph was a full-time auto mechanic with Honda when he went back to school for his Bachelor’s degree. He was accepted into the Chemistry Honors program, and immediately fell in love with NMR. He was the NMR technician for the undergraduate organic labs at CU Denver and was accepted to the University of Wisconsin-Madison for a PhD in Chemistry. In Madison, Joseph learned from Charlie Fry, Lingchao Zhu, and Heike Hofstetter many back-end skills in a magnetic resonance lab, and under the supervision of Prof. Helen Blackwell studied quorum sensing of Staphylococci, publishing several papers showing solution NMR structures of interesting peptidomimetics and how they are suspected of interacting with the organisms. In 2019, Joseph joined Dow as a Senior Chemist in Core R&D. Currently, Joseph works in the Analytical Science function of Dow’s Core R&D group. Joseph enjoys fishing, kayaking, and spending time with his family.
