First catalyst and methanol free solution of hyperpolarized pyruvate detected in vivo employing the ParaHydrogen Induced Polarization (PHIP) modality known as Signal Amplification By Reversible Exchange (SABRE). SABRE is a simple, inexpensive, and time efficient hyperpolarization modality that directly hyperpolarizes pyruvate at room temperature. In this work, highly polarized [1-13C]Pyruvate was generated in an ethanol/water medium and was then filtered through a C-18 column for catalyst removal prior to injection into a mouse. The decaying signal of hyperpolarized pyruvate in vivo was monitored with a dynamic pulse sequence in a 1.5 T MRI.
